Want a super fun lesson to teach first graders about salt’s effect on watercolors? Make space.
Day one, paint liquid watercolors with large paint brushes. Before the paint dries, have student sprinkle bits of salt here and there. Let dry.
The next day, rub off all the salt. Make sure students don’t eat it. Seriously, they do every year. Then give students another piece of paper and have them make all you can find in space, including aliens. Have students paste on top of the watercolored paper. Enjoy.
