Here are some examples of second grade students’ work after they have learned how to make shapes overlap, draw off the paper, stipple, and use watercolor techniques.
This student was very concerned because the paint went all over the faces of the snorkelers. We discussed how painting the details of the face is very hard to do with watercolors. We decided that he will use the Sharpie next time to draw the face before he paints.
I was very surprised that students didn’t use the salt. I thought they would have definitely chosen that material to work with, but most students liked working with the wet on wet technique. Super happy with how they took their understandings to a new level.
